There are two classes currently being offered.
In this 1 hour Glass bead making class you will get a chance to work with hot glass on a small scale. Learn to melt rods of glass in a propane-oxygen flame, wrap the molten glass onto a mandrel, and then use heat and gravity to shape your molten glass into a round bead. You will pull stringers (thin strings of colored glass) and use them to decorate your beads with dots, lines and simple flowers. We”ll also cover basic torch safety, glass terminology, and annealing. This is a great opportunity to get an introduction to glassblowing on the torch.
In this 1 hour class we will cover basic torch safety, setup, tools, glass properties and terminology, and annealing, with an emphasis on solid form. Students will learn how to create colorful pendants using both soft glass and borosilicate glass. Color stringers and rods will be used to create surface designs on the pendants. Students will also learn techniques for creating the Shepherds Hook to complete your pennant. Each student will have the opportunity to create their own glass sculptured pennant during this class. No experience need and great for beginner participants ages 9 yrs and older. Torch working setup is Handicap accessible. more â–¶
